Good Riddance's good beginning

The fundraiser is about to close and Good Riddance has just received another very generous $1000 donation. We thank and welcome Michael Salmon on board as an Executive Producer. He joins Phillip Reeves and Barbara Scott in the Executive Production team. The money raised is enough to shoot the film and allow us to pick and choose a few things for the production, like costumes and locations. The post production has been endorsed by a professional producer, which means that the money raised can be used mostly for the production and to cover some post-production costs, not the full works. I will update you all soon with news, as I am now starting to look for crew members. If you know anyone interested in helping on set as a production assistant please, drop us a message. Thank you all!

Fundraiser coming to a close

65 hours to go and the fundraiser has reached $2,250. It's wonderful news, and I want to thank everybody who donated, advertised and supported the campaign. You are wonderful and I can't wait to shake your hand and thank you face to face. I will write an update as soon as the campaign on indiegogo closes. Thank you all again!

Meet the cast

I realise I haven't posted the video I did with the cast for Good Riddance's fundraiser, so here it is. Amazing actors that I simply cannot wait to work with.

Sunday 30 September 2012

$2,240

It looks like Good Riddance has an Absolutely Fabulous Queen that it can proudly call an Executive Producer now. Thank you Philip Reeves for the amazing contribution, and welcome as Executive Producer!

$1,240

There is about one week left on the fundraiser and we are in decent shape, but we could do with one last little push. If we could reach $2000 that would put Good Riddance in a fabulous shape. A producer friend has offered to let us use his production company to cover all post production, which means the film, once shot, can definitely be completed. With the money raised so far we are very close to being able to shoot it, although we would still have to rely on locations being offered for free and we will have to accept freebies where we can, reducing a little choosing power. Help us reach $2000, that would allow the production team a bit more leeway.
Thank you!

$1,135

OK folks, 10 days left to raise a little bit more… literally one extra push and we can do it! If we could make the fundraiser reach $2000, that’s another $865 to go, that would put us in the ready-to-shoot position. Help me advertise the fundraiser if you can. Love you all!

Sunday 16 September 2012

$1,075

This is wonderful, and with about 3 weeks to go the fundraiser is starting to shape up, and so is the possibility that the film will be made. Thank you kindly to all those friends and friends of friends who've donated and advertised the project. We have reached $1,075. We still have time to reach our target, I think we can do it. Thank you!

$500

We have now reached $445. Yippie! Thank you to all those who made a contribution and/or helped share the link of the fundraiser. I love you guys!

There are just over 3 weeks to get closer to our goal. Do you think we can find other independent film supporters who can donate up to $55 so we can reach $500? Let’s try!

Help me spread the link and the love. www.indiegogo.com/goodriddance

Working

It's been a while since my last post. The latest news is that Fallen has now been submitted to a number of festivals, the London Film Festival is the one with the closest date being on in October. I haven't heard back from the festival office yet, but I hope it will be accepted. One has to have high hopes.
Nic Wassell, who cut the film, is also cutting a trailer for Fallen so I will post that in the next few days.

Meantime I've had a go at some cover art for It So Happens and came up with these images. I'm not sure which (if any) will be used for the DVD and poster yet, but I also have the wonderful Fabrizio "Spino" Spinelli, who designed Uncharted FIlm's logo, doing some artwork. Here are the samples of what I achieved with photoshop...

Graded

Fallen is now officially graded. It was the last thing to do in post production and it's done. More news coming soon.

Fallen's sound

At last the sound for "Fallen" is all finished. It really adds a third dimension to the story, very unsettling, very dramatic. I love it. We just need to find a colourist for the grading and the film is finished. I cannot wait to show it to people. I will keep you posted.

It's a cut!

Great news. "It So Happens" is now cut and looks ace. I hope the rest of the post production will go as quick and as smoothly as the work done so far.

Here's a still from the actual footage... beware of zombies!

Let's cut it

Right, it has taken me a few days to recover from the shoot. Not that it was hard work in itself, but all the pre-production and me juggling lots of bowling pins in the air was tiring. I've returned to work, but that seems like rest compared. I have a day off tomorrow to actually get my sh** together, then more work over the week end. But on monday I should catch up with Nic Wassell, my friend, work colleague and fellow filmmaker (and film editor for Fallen and now for It So Happens) to start looking at the rushes and at editing the new baby. Can't wait. Onward and upwards!

"It So Happens" (a new short)

Pre-production is now finished (in record time I may add -- 2 intense weeks) and production begins tomorrow at 8.30am. "It So Happens" is a new short film about Mickey, an 11 year old boy, who has some rather macabre daydreams involving his ever-arguing parents.

Gabrielle Reidy and Gary Lilburn play the argumentative parents and their son Finn will play Mickey. We shoot in 1 day and in 1 location. We will have zombie and vampire make-up, a bit of gore and blood... blood...

I now better go to sleep as the clocks go forward and getting up at 6am in fact means being up at 5am on my biological clock. There simply aren't enough hours in a day, but we even lose one, so a tough one for me and my fellow crew and cast members for a Sunday shoot.

I'll post some photos after the shoot.

Good night all!

Mixing

The sound and music of Fallen are in the process of being mixed by a professional studio. Once that's all done we'll match it with the video, add the last credits and send the video out for grading. One last push...

Sound Mixing and New Website

It has been months since my last update. Progress on Fallen has definitely been made, albeit slowly. But to do things well it takes time. Rob has almost finished with the sound mixing and the music. He was courageous to take on such a mammoth task whilst working full time elsewhere, so all his spare time is being used to work on Fallen. I will never be able to thank him enough for all the hard work. Anyway, sound mixing and music are almost finished, Nic Wassell has edited the film, including opening title sequence and credits roll (big big thanks to Nic as well), so when that's done you know you are almost at the end of the post production stage. I can't wait to show the film to everyone who worked so hard to make it happen.

Meantime I have launched a brand new website, you can see it at www.unchartedfilms.com

Enjoy!
